Creation of a Digital Book

March 11, 2021

On approaching the ten year anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake and the five year anniversary in April of the Kumamoto Earthquakes, we implemented the "Kokomade, Korekara" project where we re-examine these earthquake disasters together with Group employees.
We created a digital book summarizing our activities over the ten years that have passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake that have been communicated through Tokyu Fudosan Holdings press releases, internal newsletters, our website and more. We use this book internally as a disaster response report by combining it with past initiatives, post-earthquake BCP responses, and messages for the future from top management.

"Great East Japan Earthquake Disaster Stricken Area Recovery Support Event" held in the Upper House members’office

February 24-26, 2016

From February 24 to 26, 2016, Tokyu Community Corporation held an event to support the recovery of the three prefectures affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake (Iwate Prefecture, Miyagi Prefecture, Fukushima Prefecture) again this year in the Upper House members’office. The management and administration of this office building are entrusted to Tokyu Community Corporation as a PFI business.
Local cuisine made from ingredients from the disaster stricken area was served in the canteens and a photographic panel exhibition and food alley were held, among other things. The event was an appeal not to let the "bonds" of recovery support weaken and to mitigate the damage caused by the harmful rumors of food. As a new initiative this year, the Reconstruction Agency and Tokyu Community Corporation organized a joint program in which they invited the members of Super Science Club of Fukushima High School in Fukushima Prefecture to present their research on the radiation amounts and harmful rumors of food in Fukushima. Lots of people, including members of the Diet, attended this research presentation, and they described it as "an excellent and interesting discussion." It turned out to be a rewarding event that provided high school students from the disaster area an opportunity to express their opinions at a place like Nagatacho.

Intended to secure overnight facilities for volunteers, the three companies in the Tokyu Group endorsed the city’s request to “turn it into a base for visitors to the disaster area,” and collaborated as a form of support activity. The facility, which can accommodate about 80 people, is scheduled for a grand opening in May next year after beds have been fitted, refrigerators installed in the common spaces, and TOTO unit baths and other wet area equipment provided. During the preopening period, the simple facility will provide accommodation free of charge to volunteers. After the grand opening, the facility will, of course, be used for volunteers, but the city plans to throw the doors wide open to children and students visiting Rikuzentakata to learn about and experience the disaster area, as well as other non-commercial visitors to the city, offering hope of activities in the city during the time required to rebuild hotels and other lodgings.

Organizing the Nasu Yume Balloon Project Held in grand style with the participation of approximately 3,000 people, including the Mayor of Nasu, the Nasu Yume Balloon Project for releasing ten thousand balloons carrying cheerful thoughts from the Nasu Highlands, was blessed with clear skies on April 15. Aiming to revitalize the Nasu Highlands where visitors have been decreasing since the Great East Japan Earthquake, the major facilities in the region, including Harvest Club Nasu and Mt. Jeans Nasu, formed the Nasu Hotel & Leisure Facility Liaison Council to plan this project. Participants wrote their own messages on the balloons, appealing for vitality for Nasu. The highlight was surely the sight of 10,000 balloons soaring into the sky all at once. Before and after the release of the balloons, local groups organized performances and raffles, creating a great sense of excitement. As a member of the Liaison Council, we would like to contribute even a little to the recovery of the tourism industry in Nasu by continuing activities in the future.

Donating Pellet Stoves to Sumita-cho, Iwate Prefecture

Winter 2011

There are 93 temporary homes in Sumita-cho, Iwate Prefecture, which are occupied by tsunami victims mainly from neighboring Rikuzentakata City. Tokyu Land Corporation donated the funds to purchase four pellet stoves for use at the assembly halls for the temporary housing projects at three locations in Sumita-cho. Pellet stoves are space heaters fuelled by wood pellets made from raw materials such as thinned wood or wood chips. As well as making effective use of forest resources, they have an effect on CO2 reduction as a substitute for kerosene, etc. Sumita-cho is the location of one of the forests targeted for conservation under the Green Connection project, a TLC Group initiative, so our Green Connection initiative is also useful for heating in the disaster areas. On the day the photo was taken, preparations were underway for a Christmas party on the following day, and the pellet stove was heating up the assembly hall.
